Marco

UK fruit packhouse profitability experts Marco is gearing up for the Western Growers Association’s (WGA) 84th Annual Convention due to take place in Las Vegas, the US, on 8-11 November, according to a company statement.

Since exhibiting at this important venue for the first time last year, Marco claims to have made important in roads into the US fruit market, having recently completed an important profitability system installation for Pandol Brothers at its newly expanded Delano packhouse.

At this year’s convention, Marco said it will introduce its highly successful packhouse waste management system, which further improves packhouse efficiency by constantly monitoring where waste is generated.

Marco’s managing director Murray Hilborne is excited about the upcoming event: “We have clearly demonstrated how our yield control system significantly reduces giveaway, without jeopardising pack weight compliance,” he said.

“Field trials in the US have shown that packers are needlessly giving away up to 10 per cent of fruit in overweight packs. At Pandol’s packhouse our system has not only reduced these levels to almost zero, but also dramatically improved packing speeds – all of which impacts positively on the bottom line. We are confident other growers and packers will soon benefit from our systems.”
