Leading product developer Syngenta Seeds Vegetables will look to develop new brands for its tomato varieties over the next few years in collaboration with retailers, suppliers and growers as it seeks to meet increasing demand for high-quality, healthy and sustainable products.

Speaking exclusively to Fruitnet during last week's Syngenta Tomato Conference 2008 in Noordwijkerhout, Holland, the group's marketing director for EAME, Massimo Enzo, also said the company would consider extending its Kumato brand to other tomato varieties in future.

'Kumato could become a category rather than a single variety, as long as the production is consistent,' he said. The conference event, which took place at the beginning of last week, attracted 350 producers, traders and retailers from some 23 countries.
