CMA CGM Electron

A new feeder service operated by CMA CGM has been introduced this month, linking the Port of Hamburg in Germany with the Danish ports of Fredericia and Copenhagen, the Swedish port of Halmstad and the Baltic Sea port of Szczecin in Poland.

The CMA CGM feeder vessel Electron calls at container terminals at the Port of Hamburg once per week, having started on the new service for the first time on 13 January 2010.

Chartered by the shipping company JR Shipping in Harlingen, measures 118.3m in length and 18.2m in width, boasting a load capacity of 658 TEU and providing 100 reefer connections.

Hamburg has proved an effective traffic hub between overseas markets and the Baltic Sea area, due to its modern infrastructure and geographic location.

Seaborne container traffic with Poland achieved a container turnover of more than 160,000 TEU in the first nine months of 2009, making Poland the seventh must important trading partner of the Port of Hamburg in terms of seaborne cargo transhipments.
