Peruvian fresh citrus exports fell by 10.7 per cent in value to US$54m during the January to November period of 2009 although shipments rose in volume.
The result is down on the US$60.5m recorded for the year-earlier period, according to figures compiled by the Peruvian Exporters’ Association’s Statistics System (Adex Data Trade) and reported by local publication Expreso.
During the January-November period, Adex said soft citrus sales reached US$39.2m (down 5 per cent on US$41.3m last year), followed by limes, worth US$12.3m (a 3 per cent decrease in comparison to 2008) and oranges (US$2.5m).
Peru mainly ships soft citrus to the US, the UK and the Netherlands, according to Adex. Lime sendings, meanwhile, are primarily distributed in Denmark, the UK and the US.
