Dole sign FL

Dole Europe has announced that it will use Fruit Logistica 2010 to present programmes that the group has developed with the aim of reducing its overall environmental footprint.

'Respecting the planet is a priority for Dole in every area where its activities are deployed,' said Dole Europe president Jean-Christophe Juilliard.

Dole's carbon footprint is one of the main areas of focus, with Fruit Logistica 2010 representing an opportunity to provide an update on Dole's programmes aimed at measuring, reducing and offsetting the company's greenhouse gas emissions.

One such programme saw Dole sign an agreement with the Ministry of Environment of Costa Rica in 2007, working together on a project aimed at establishing a carbon neutral product supply chain for pineapples and bananas from production in the country to the North American and European markets.

Other areas that Dole will highlight in Berlin include water management, with the company presenting the systems it has developed to reduce water use and to recycle water, and soil conservation, with updates on recent seminars held in Costa Rica regarding conservation in the country's pineapple industry.

'For the second year in a row, Dole will focus on corporate social responsibility during Fruit Logistica,' noted Sylvain Cuperlier, vice-president, director of worldwide corporate social responsibility at the group. 'This decision demonstrates Dole's strong commitment to CSR. We invite you to come and visit us to learn more about Dole's programmes aimed at reducing its environmental footprint.'

Dole Food Company, the world's largestfruit and vegetable producer and marketer, willdisplay these developments in Hall 6.2, stand A-02 of the event, whichtakes place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Germany on 3-5 February.
