Sirane at Fruit Logistica 2010

Sirane Ltd has revealed that Fruit Logistica 2010 proved an unmitigated success for the group, with interest in its packaging solutions coming from growers, retailers and distributors from across the globe.

'We expected a good show in Berlin in February, but have actually beentaken aback by the response of our trade to our fruit packagingsolutions,' said group founder and director Simon Balderson. 'Welearned from the customers on our Fruit Logistica stand exactly whatkind of product we have on our hands – and just how much Sirane'spackaging can help change the industry, and the environment – for thebetter.'

Sirane Dri-Fresh ResolveOf particular interest to potential customers were the group's range of Dri-Fresh Resolve absorbent pads, hailed by the group as a breakthrough packaging solution.

According to Sirane, the positive reaction at the three-day event has led to shipments of the pad being sent for trial across the globe, with a range of distribution and agency agreements being discussed to ensure that the product is widely available.

'The fact that our pad is instantly absorbent and that the juice is hidden means that the fruit can always look good even if it happens to be over-ripe,' noted group sales manager Sandra Evans. 'The grower can pack more fruit, confident that the packaging will keep it intact and fresh, and the fruit retailer can also rely on the packaging to do the same.

'The consumer is happier with the product and is more likely to eat it rather than throw it away,' Ms Evans added. 'The levels of returns and wastage throughout the whole supply chain are massively reduced – and everybody benefits.'

The Telford, UK-based business now employs over 90 people, and has seen turnover grow to over £8m (€8.8m) from a standing start in 2003.
