Three leading Spanish cooperatives - Coprohníjar, Camposol and Hortamar - have joined together with a Russian importer to create a new marketing company aimed at increasing sales of their products in the Russia market.

The companies, all of which are based in the Andalusian province of Almería, have reportedly established the sales platform with an unnamed Moscow-based partner, with the goal of improving sales and avoiding problems associated with exports to the country.

Coprohníjar president Antonio García Padilla told La Voz de Almería that Anecoop, which last year set-up its own Russian trading arm Agrikoop, would provide the companies – all of which are associated – with support for their new venture in the market.

“We have created a company, a type of cooperative, to manage from there the products that we send from Almería,” he said.

“It’s important for this project that we have people in Moscow in situ that can take charge of controlling and supervising that everything runs smoothly and that we avoid any problems.”

Coprohníjar, Camposol and Hortamar produce and export a wide range of fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes, cucumber, melons, watermelons, peppers and aubergines.
