McDonald's

McDonald's France has confirmed its desire to carry out a revision of its farming requirements in order to optimise its good environmental practice, according to Fld.

The restaurant chain has announced a dual objective to reduce greenhouse emissions by 60 per cent at its restaurants and by 20 per cent globally by 2020.

The farming sector is seen by the company as a priority in these aims. As far as fruit and vegetables are concerned, the focus is reportedly on water management.

In 2009, McDonald's France bought more than 143,000 tonnes of potatoes and over 7,600 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, with 76 per cent of this volume coming from French producers and 23.5 per cent from elsewhere in Europe.
