lychees

Hefestus has championed the use of its Shelf Life Booster (SLB) modified atmosphere packaging technology for lychees, claiming that the sealing system can extend the shelf-life of lychees by up to 35 days.

According to the Israeli group, the major difference between lychees and other fruit is the colour of its red outer shell, which can turn yellow if left unattended, discouraging customers from purchasing the product.

However, with the use of SLB technology, Hefestus said that freshness, firmness of texture and colour is held for over a month, enabling growers to offer customers the fruit while maintaining an efficient and profitable supply chain.

'The SLB technology initiated by Hefestus is the only method which really lengthens the shelf-life of fruit and vegetables, without harming the texture or aesthetic look,' the group said.
