APL container ship

Singapore-based container shipper APL has appointed European regional president Dave Appleton to the new position of senior vice president of liner trade management.

Detlev Kerber, vice president of Asia-Europe trade, will replace Mr Appleton as European president, IFW has reported.

After taking up their new posts in August, Mr Appleton will manage all APL's global trade lanes, while Mr Kerber will take over sales, business development and general operations throughout Europe.

Meanwhile Damco, the logistics arm of the AP Moller/Maersk Group, has recruited Michael Ma to be its new head of supply chain development for the North Asia region.

Mr Ma previously worked for IBM Global Business Services in Hong Kong, and has also worked with PWC Consulting, HSBC, DHL and UPS.
