French peaches

In France, peaches and nectarines are set to be sold 'au déballage' for the first time this season on 30-31 July, according to retailer union the FCD.

This practice involves retailers selling unpackaged, loose produce in car parks belonging to the stores, usually at reduced prices.

The aim of 'ventes au déballage' is to move greater volumes when stocks are high.

Consumption of seasonal fruits is currently on the wane in France, forcing this action by the retailers.

French retailers also have plans for in-store promotions for these fruits, according to La Voix du Nord, offering trays and mini-trays at attractive prices.
