Leading kiwifruit marketer Zespri has announced the resignation of Tony Nowell, chief executive officer of Zespri Group Ltd, who left the group on 30 June. The announcement was made by group chairman Craig Greenlees, who also revealed that Lain Jager, Zespri’s supply chain general manager, will take over as acting CEO from 1 July.

New Zealand-based fruit science company HortResearch has appointed Peter Landon-Lane, general manager of Fonterra Europe, as its new chief executive officer, following Paul McGilvary’s resignation in February to become CEO of New Zealand dairy company Tatua Limited. HortResearch Chairman Jim McLean announced that Mr Landon-Lane will take up his new role in September.

Rob Wateman, SafmarineRob Waterman (pictured) has been handed the role of general manager in the UK and Ireland for Belgium-based international shipping line Safmarine. Mr Waterman will be based in central London.

Global pest management group Exosect has announced the appointment of Robert Hend as its regulatory affairs manager within the company’s resource and development team.

Siegfried Koop, manager of wholesale sales and the Rewe account at Capespan Continent, has retired following a 37 year stint at the company. Hubert Schulz, responsible for wholesale sales and the Edeka account, has also retired.

Meanwhile, Capespan Continent’s product manager for grapes, Ben Taieb, has been handed the position of deputy procurement director. In the position, he will represent the views of the product and technical teams.

Returnable fresh produce crate specialist CPR System has nominated Renzo Piraccini as its next president. Mr Piraccini is also general director of leading exporter Apofruit Italia.

Fedefruta, the official lobbying group for Chile’s fresh fruit growers, has re-elected Rodrigo Echeverría Díaz to serve as president of the organisation for a further two years. During his second two-year term, Mr Echeverría has indicated he hopes to further integrate services provided by Fedefruta, such as ISO certification, to help Chilean fruit growers retain their operation profitability.
