At upcoming tradeshow Sial, which takes place in Paris on 17-21 October, the so-called Mademoiselle Oignon will be present to inform visitors about the seven virtues of the 'tastemaker of the Dutch agricultural sector', the onion.
These virtues are: year-round availability, nature's best, food safety, tasty assortment, sustainability, professionalism and freshness.
The Netherlands is one of the biggest onion exporters in Europe, exporting some 1m tonnes a year.
The country leads the market in onion exports to Africa, sending the bulk to Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Mauretania and Guinea.
