Rungis Market

Several wholesalers at Rungis international market in Paris revealed their concern in the face of fuel shortages, which they said was disrupting supplies and customer visits, according to French newspaper Le Figaro.

Semmaris, the company that manages the market, attempted to offer its reassurance, explaining that it was 'working closely with the prefecture of Val-de-Marne to ensure that the site's service stations were able to supply lorries for their return journeys'.

However, Michel Lemeunier, president of the trade union of fruit and vegetable wholesalers, expressed his doubts.

'Product supplies are down, and our customers are having difficulties reaching the market,' he told the paper.

Mr Lemeunier added that he was equally anxious about the refueling of trucks that transport produce from Rungis freight station to the warehouses.
