AsPeru’s leading produce grower-exporterCamposolenters its peak production period, the company has revealed that its activitiesare running as usual despite an “illegal strike” by one of its unions, which ended on Thursday 28 October.

“There has been a strike by one of the company unions, Sitecasa, which comprises 6.7 per cent of Camposol’s workers but only around 1 per cent of the workers participated,” the company explained in a press release.

Camposol said the agreement with Sitecasa was delayed by “a series of violent acts” led by the protesters and counteracted by the national police, who provided protection and guarantees to the 99 per cent of employees who turned up for work.

Despite the situation, the company said its operations have been “running normally and without interruption”, meaning the strike action has not had a financial impact on the business.

Camposol is anticipating “promising prospects” for its white asparagus, table grape and mango campaigns this year.

“The season is demanding for the workers and partners, but the company is pleased with the teamwork between the field, packhouse and commercial departments,” Camposol said.
