Natures Way Foods

Leading UK salad and fruit manufacturer Natures Way Foods (NWF) has gained recognition for its green credentials at the 2010 Sussex Business Awards, claiming the top environmental award for Most Sustainable Business.

The prize will sit alongside the company's Carbon Trust Standard award, which NWF received in September last year for its work in measuring, managing and reducing its carbon emissions.

Head of sales and marketing Sarah Baldock commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award and to have been recognised in our local area as a ‘green’ business.Finding ways to reduce our impact on the environment is a top priority at NWF, and we have implemented a range of initiatives to reduce waste, reuse and recycle and improve supply chain efficiencies. We pride ourselves on having a very clear environmental policy that sets out our commitments, goals and targets around the environmental impact of our activities on the local community.”

In addition to its recycling of waste products like raw material waste, paper, cardboard and cans, the company also recycles 99.5 per cent of all water used, and all roof and groundwater is captured to maintain natural habitats on its grounds.

'This Award shows that we can continue to be an industry leading business whilst keeping a strong focus on sustainability and preserving our local environment,” said CEO Susan Barratt.
