Euroasper FL2011

The Euroasper meeting was held in Fruit Logistica's Piazza Italia

Euroasper, the European Asparagus Producers' Association, has confirmed that Italian asparagus exports up to the end of October 2010 increased by 17 per cent compared with the same 10 months of 2009.

Exporters were able to attract average prices that were around 30 per cent higher year-on-year, the organisation heard during a meeting held during last week's Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Germany.

The country's domestic asparagus sales, meanwhile, fell slightly during the course of the same period, by 3 per cent.

Meanwhile, Euroasper has also confirmed the reappointment of Luciano Trentini as its president for the next two years.

The next Euroasper congress is due to take place in February 2012 and will most likely be held in France.
