Dr Mary Cummings and Kay Larkin from the paediatric unit at Ealing hospital received a cheque for £1,500 at the Western International Market Christmas reception from chairman of the tenants' association George Bray and chief executive Uli Hayes. Two further cheques, also for £1,500, were presented to the Royal Star & Garter Home and the newly inaugurated WIM Benevolent Fund. All of the money was raised at the tombola held at the market's annual dinner and dance in October.
