The first UK glasshouse asparagus made its debut on the C&C stand, Spitalfields, on Friday and commanded a premium of £3.50 lb. Outdoor gras is unlikely to make an appearance until the first week of May, though much will depend upon the weather over the next fortnight. At this stage, cold, wet conditions are holding the crop back.
