The first arrivals of new season Turkish lemons debuted on the market last week. Importer Bamsped International reported that 500 pallets of the Interdonato variety were unloaded last week with a further 1,000 pallets of fruit coming in this week. "The fruit has nice, bright, shiny skin finish and excellent internal quality," said a Bamsped spokesman. "Production conditions have been very good this year." Turkey has the second largest share of the lemon market in the UK with 15 per cent in 1999 worth more than £4million and amounting to 11,466 tonnes, according to data from Food from Britain.
