Tong Engineering is organising an automated vegetable handling show to unveil the latest advances in the field.

Three innovations will be launched at the two-day event at the company headquarters in Spilsby, Lincolnshire on March 13-14.

These include a complete potato working line, an onion sorter and grader, and a demonstration of the latest Pomone system.

The firm hopes to attract growers and packers from as far afield as France and Ireland to the show, which it last hosted 10 years ago.

Tong managing director Charles Tong said: 'These new innovations represent major advances for the vegetable handling industry.

'While providing growers and packers with the opportunity to discuss their specific vegetable handling requirements, the event also gives them their first opportunity to view the new technology to assess its benefits for themselves.'
