The group of rigid plastic packaging companies previously known as MY Plastics, has renamed itself Sharp Interpack; a name with a long association with thermoforming. It has also revived the well-remembered brand name Sharpak with a new logo.

Sharp Interpack has two BRC accredited UK plants, in Kent and Somerset, a European sales office in Holland and other manufacturing bases in Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The businesses have been bought out from the Malbak Group by a consortium led by Douglas de Jager, the former group chief executive.

In the UK, an initial £7 million investment programme is nearing completion in both plants, including the acquisition of the latest specification thermoforming machinery from Europe and the USA., together with the UK's largest and most advanced APET and CPET extrusion installation at Bridgwater.

'The company's new ownership brings a lifetime of experience in plastics and complete commitment to an increasingly successful future,' said sales and marketing director, Jeremy Sampson. 'We already have the resources and customer base of a world class manufacturer. We will reinforce our position with an increased dedication to product innovation and outstanding customer service.'
