Dahlias were one of the featured flowers of Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, reflecting their new status as fashion favourite of stylish florists and attracting the eyes of celebrities.

Winchester Growers' bright dahlias were the main focus of the NCCPG marquee at the show, and the flowers also received coverage on the BBC.

The Winchester Growers' display consisted of two gardens that ran along the centre of the marquee.

One showed dahlias in formal colour-blocked sections, planted with conifers and aucuba as a garden of the 1950s would be.

The second showed dahlias intermingled with other plants such as lilies, acers and phormium to demonstrate how well dahlias fit into a modern informal garden style.

Several celebrities paid a visit to the marquee to see the dahlias. They included Sir Roy Strong who opened the marquee, and former Going Live presenter Philip Schofield (pictured) who showed a great interest in the plants.
