Cobgate Foods has announced an increase in its salad onion output to 350,000 units a week, following a recent programme of expansion.

The Lincolnshire based operation supplies a number of multiples, and has invested heavily to make this happen - spending £300,000 on facilities, equipment and people since being acquired by JJ Barker in 2001.

General manager Terry Waite said: 'We wanted to be in a position to supply our customers reliably and efficiently with the quantity and quality of produce they need.

'That demands first class facilities and a happy skilled workforce. We've come a long way in 18 months and we're going to keep on developing. The potential for our business is immense.' The firm has recently achieved BRC Higher Level accreditation and gained Investors in People status - part of a radical improvement in the way staff are rewarded and developed.
