Fenmarc Produce Ltd, one of the UK's largest prepared and pre-packed root vegetable suppliers, has been bought by Mark Harrod and Chris Swift.

The deal will allow Fenmarc director Stuart Edwards and 3i Group plc to realise their investments which have been held since the mbo in 1998. Edwards will stay with the company, although he is stepping down as director.

Managing director Harrod said: 'I am extremely grateful to Stuart and 3i for the support they have given me over the past four years, but we all felt the time was right to simplify the company structure and recognise the importance of long term stability.

'As far as out customers, colleagues, suppliers and growers are concerned it is business as usual.' Richard Bishop, director of 3i Midlands, added: 'We're pleased to have backed a quality management team who have delivered excellent value for all shareholders. I wish Chris and Mark every success with the future of the business.' Funding for the secondary buyout passes control to the two directors, and also allows for future development.
