The Mack group could soon be adding potatoes to its product portfolio. The supermarket supplier, wholesaler and importer has announced that it has entered into an agreement with DGM Potatoes of Spalding to explore the possibility of amalgamating the two businesses.

'Whilst this process is well advanced, it has yet to be finalised, although both parties are confident of a successful outcome,' Mack md Christopher Mack said. 'The combination of Mack and DGM will strengthen the joint position with Marks & Spencer, and will provide a sound complementary basis on which the business can grow.' Further developments are not expected until after Christmas but both businesses are likely to benefit from a joint marketing effort which Mack describes as 'being particularly powerful in the potato and organic produce business' which is based at Spalding.

'This development is seen as being positive for all parties involved, the employees and shareholders of both companies, our customers and our suppliers,' said Mack.
