'A huge amount of concern has been lifted from the industry, thanks to HDC obtaining this Sola,' said Graham Ward, chairman of the Lettuce Technology Group. 'Amistar provides important protection in the winter season and HDC and the Lettuce Technology Group will now be working to reduce the harvest intervals from 56 days so that summer crops can be protected too.' The Sola also means Amistar can be used on protected herbs and protected baby-leaf brassicas.

It represents a major breakthrough for UK growers, some of who lost half their crops to bottom rot so far this season. The disease can occur throughout the year but is most severe over the winter production period from September onwards.
