Tanacetum, otherwise known as Matricaria will soon be back in the limelight thanks to green cultivars and improved year-round quality, as breeders give the blooms a much needed boost.

Firmer stems, leaves and increased vase life play an important role as does colour, with striking new examples of green such as 'Lime Green Vegmo' and 'Andes'.

Within the two main groups of Tanacetum, Tanacetum parthenium contains single flowered, semi double and double flowered cultivars.

The most important cultivars are 'Bava' and 'Single Vegmo' which account for 60 per cent of both production and sales.

Next to follow are 'Snowball' and 'Yellow Vegmo' both of which are reported to be in good supply.
