The rapidly growing Brecon-based fresh and exotic ingredients specialist created the new post to strengthen the management team as the company looks to further develop the business.

Pugh has spent his entire career in the food and drinks industry, working for Sun Valley, RHM and TMI Food in Northampton. He said: 'Beacon's history of growth is quite phenomenal and their product range is unique. It's an exciting sector to be in and they have captured a niche in the market.

'My aim is to bring continuous improvement to the already excellent technical standards at Beacon Foods and to use that as a platform to grow our customer base and product range. The products are good but there is always room for improvement and that's why I'm here 'For all the company's success, they have managed to keep their feet on the ground and their down to earth approach is very refreshing. I am really enjoying the friendly atmosphere and the general feeling of pride about the place.'
