Bomfords will hold its two-day festival at the Workman Gardens in Evesham on May 25-26. Chefs Tony Tobin and Brian Turner will be cooking up mouth-watering dishes over the two day event which will also feature barbecue samples, demonstrations, an asparagus restaurant and bar, competitions and the Aspara Bus to take visitors on a tour of production. Bomford's asparagus character Gus will also be on hand to greet visitors.

There will also be an asparagus auction and an asparagus dinner at a top Chipping Campden hotel.

'The main objective for the festival is to raise the profile of this versatile and easy-to-prepare vegetable,' said Bomfords' Lucy Mellor. 'We farm 5,000 acres in Worcs and Warks including spring onions, peas, runner beans, broad beans, purple sprouting broccoli and sprouts as well as asparagus.' The company celebrated its first season with the Morgan car Asparagus Run last year from the Vale of Evesham to London's top hotels with the cream of its asparagus crop destined for a four-course asparagus meal cooked by Anton Edelman at The Savoy.
