The fruit, vegetable and flower internet search engine www.hairyape.co.uk has won the Federation of International Trade Associations (FITA) 'Really useful site' award for last month.

Hairyape has a database of importers, exporters, wholesalers and growers from all sections of the fresh produce industry worldwide and pride its self upon its user-friendly facilities.

Martin Clifford of Hairyape is delighted with FITA's acknowledgement. He said: 'Since we've won the award we have seen a increase in the number of hits on our website. Members of FITA have been interested to see what we're all about, and we've had over 20 new members register with Hairyape.' FITA founded in 1984 fosters international trade by strengthening the role of local, regional and national associations across the globe. Each month they send out a list of organisations that they feel would be worthy winners of their award and ask members for their vote. And the 400,000 organisations linked to FITA represent a broad cross-section of the international trade community including; trading companies, freight forwarders, shipping companies and port authorities.

The Hairyape website allows members to search by product, country of origin, variety and supplier location and the results list gives contact information such as email and website addresses. Clifford said: 'We are now hopeful of a continued upsurge of hits and new members to our site.'
