Some studies have suggested strawberries may have properties that reduce the growth of cancer cells. In particular, ellagic acid has been linked to inhibiting the growth of cells of several cancers including; breast, skin and prostrate cancer.

And investigations will not stop at red strawberries. Their wild ancestors, which can be white or yellow and even taste of pineapple will also be included. Research aims to develop new varieties to maximise the anti-carcinogenic qualities.
