The deal applies to trade in agricultural products and could be especially advantageous to EU fruit and vegetable imports into Norway.

The agreement should apply from next week with import duties on many plants as well as fresh produce set to be dropped.

The deal could therefore be significant for a handful of UK exporters with business into Norway most notably on brassicas and potatoes.

Although Norway is a member of the European Economic Area and so pays money to the EU to guarantee it access to EU countries, trade in agricultural products is not part of the arrangement and has to be negotiated on separately.
