The third UK joint Onion & Carrot Conference will be held on November 26 (onions) and November 27 (carrots) at Chilford Hall near Cambridge, together with a trade exhibition, technical posters, variety displays and a number of additional attractions.

The conference dinner will be held on the first evening in the Great Hall at Chilford Hall. The after-dinner speaker, Michael Fish of the BBC Weather Centre, will hopefully be able to throw some light on the increasingly unusual weather patterns effecting UK growers.

The conference is being organised by the British Onion Producers Association (BOPA), the British Carrot Growers Association (BCGA), Plantsystems Ltd and the Allium and Brassica Centre.

The key note speaker on both days will be Professor Leonard Pike of Texas. He will be speaking on Sweet Onions in the USA on Wednesday and making use of the health benefit story and 5-a-day initiatives in the USA on Thursday.

In addition, speakers from all around Europe have agreed to speak at the conference, including France, Holland, Germany and Poland.

Interest from allied industries has been so great, that the trade and technical exhibition is already fully booked. There will also be varied trade stands during the intervals and lunchbreak.

Registration forms are available from: BOPA Ltd, 133 Eastgate, Louth, Lincs LN11 9QG or call: 01507 602427 or email: crop.association@pvga.co.uk
