Zespri is pleased with a strong performance in Europe so far this season

The exporter's latest newsletter reports strong pricing compared with 2002 particularly in Europe where values are up 16 per cent year on year.

European sales to mid-September were 0.9 per cent up in Europe on 2002 at 27.3 million trays. Sales of green fruit were ahead of 2002 by two per cent and prices up 14 per cent. The green season is running shorter than in 2002 with the last fruit loaded out last week. The 26 per cent reduction in volume means that the season is three weeks shorter than in 2002.

Gold's performance in Europe has also pleased the sender with pricing reported 21 per cent up on 2002. Globally, Gold sales were up 8.4 per cent on 2002 to mid-September.
