Sainsbury's is gearing up for this year's Halloween with its widest range of products and merchandising.

Celebrations will begin in store on October 15 with a range of costumes, sweets and traditional Halloween fare. There will be eight different types of pumpkin for eating or carving, including the new mini pumpkins called “Muchkins” and painting kits to decorate your pumpkin. There will also be DIY toffee apple kits where you can melt the sugar and coat the apple to your taste and pure white ghost raspberries available over the Halloween period. Pumpkin pie returns to the dessert menu with a new chilled pie.

Sainsbury's food advisors will be visiting 100 selected stores to run pumpkin carving demonstrations using the carving kits and Halloween recipes.

Last year the store sold 352,000 pumpkins, an increase of 12 per cent on the previous year and anticipates sales increases across the whole Halloween range of over 25 per cent this year.

Lindsay Glasson, Sainsbury's Halloween project manager, said: “Halloween is one of the fastest growing events in the seasonal calendar and we've increased our range of food and entertainments.”
