Fresh Del Monte's Costa Rican pineapple operation is among those elements of the company's business portfolio to earn EurepGAP certification

Fresh Del Monte announced from its Florida base today that it has gained EurepGAP certification after passing the required series of rigorous audits by fully accredited, independent auditing firms such as Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) and Latu Sistemas.

Fresh Del Monte said that its Costa Rican banana, pineapple and melon operations and its primary Chilean deciduous and citrus operations have received the certification in recognition of the company's commitment to safeguard product safety, the welfare of its employees, to assure food safety, to protect the environment and to produce the highest quality produce through the development and adoption of a codified system of best practices. The company also announced that other Fresh Del Monte operations would undergo EurepGAP audits in the near future.

"Receiving EurepGAP certification highlights our ongoing commitment to implementing quality management, food safety and environmental systems at our sites worldwide and demonstrates once again that Fresh Del Monte Produce is a global leader in the fresh produce industry," said Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and chief executive officer.
