According to Brittany growers' organisation Prince de Bretagne, brassica crops have recovered from the drought and the range is at its best. Cauliflower, broccoli and Romanesco cauliflower supplies have all picked up again following an early-autumn period of shortage and are all available, the group has revealed in its latest newsletter.

The region was not as hard hit as other parts of France by the ravages of drought, although the artichoke season was cut short. But tomatoes from Brittany fared better than their counterparts elsewhere in the country as high light levels helped boost production. And shallots and onions have performed very well in the dry conditions and have excellent skin finish and shelf-life this season as a result, reports the organisation.
