Everfresh Europe's latest storage bag aims to extend life of produce

Everfresh Europe is launching a range of pre-packed fresh salads and herbs, which aim to extend the life of the produce by up to 10 times.

The storage bags are impregnated with rock from Mount Oya, Japan, which contains a unique mineral that that absorbs ethylene and excessive carbon dioxide, the gases that cause produce to deteriorate.

Research carried out has revealed that besides the bag extending the produce life, they also reduce the loss of vitamin C.

The group's fresh Guernsey salads range will initially comprise Little Gem lettuces and 250g packs of organically grown Cherry and Plum tomatoes. Cucumber, spring onions and other vegetables will be added in the near future.

Roy Dixon, managing director at Everfresh Europe, said: “We believe there is great potential in the retail sector, particularly for smaller retailers who need to keep their produce fresh for as long as possible.”
