The Goods Shed food hall in Canterbury has come to the rescue of a farmers market event that attracted 50,000 people in 2003.

Just a few weeks ago Philippe Esclasse, the Canterbury City manager, said: “Last year 50,000 people made the pilgrimage to Canterbury for the festive Eurofair in the Dane John Gardens. The event will not be taking place this year and I fear much disappointment”.

The Goods Shed on Station Road West, Canterbury, has saved the day. For three days at the end of this month, it will be hosting a mini Eurofair, with some of last year's Eurofair favourites invited to trade alongside its resident Kentish producers. John Vines of Devon, who has an annual custom in Canterbury for his superior Beef, said: “It's a huge relief to know I can still bring my beef to Canterbury this year.”

The public will also be able to enjoy Didier's wild mushrooms from France, French speciality foods from the Côte Sud and Mo Joslin's traditional quince jams.

The event will be known as ëChristmas starts at The Goods Shed' and will be taking place on November 28 and 29 from 10am-7pm and on November 30 from 11am-4pm.
