Garlic the best defence against superbug

Garlic has emerged as an unlikely potential life-saver for the National Health Service (NHS).

Research carried out by scientists at the University of London appear to have shown that allicin, a compund ingredient in garlic, could act as a defence against hospital superbug MRSA.

The bug, which is prevalent in the UK's hospital network, is responsible for around 2,000 deaths a year, and researchers believe consumption of garlic may help to significantly reduce this number.
