Irish multi-national Fyffes has achieved EurepGAP accreditation for its banana supplies. The group is now in a position to ensure that bananas supplied to all its major supermarket customers across Europe are covered by the accreditation and compliant with its protocols on food and worker safety.
"This is a very significant achievement for us," said a Fyffes spokesman. "It means that just ourselves and Del Monte in the banana industry have this accreditation and we are extremely enthusiastic about it."
He also told the freshinfo that the group will be working towards accreditation on pineapples next.
