Datamonitor has reported strong growth in the UK soft drinks industry

Independent market analyst Datamonitor has revealed that the market for soft drinks is booming, and the UK is the Europe’s second largest market behind Germany.

Changing lifestyles, needs and expectations are responsible for the strong growth of soft drinks according to Datamonitor. Dominik Nosalik, consumer market analyst at Datamonitor, said: “Society is becoming more experimental and health aware, drinking less alcohol and demanding a social environment that reflects this.

“Consumers lives have become increasingly busy and fast-paced. There has been a strong demand for drinks in a variety of out-of-home locations which are driving the market in terms of convenience and accessibility compared to hot drinks.”

The development of convenience-orientated packaging in soft drinks has made a big impact. Crystal Drinks launched Crystal Premium this year. It is a 100 per cent pure orange juice in a single-serve bottle with a sports cap for convenient drinking.

Soft drinks consumption is also increasing among older segments of the population. Soft drinks such as pure juice and squash are becoming increasingly relevant to this health conscious age group. Premier International Foods is hoping to target women with its London Fruit & Herb Echinacea juice drink as a boost for their immune system.
