The Mushroom Bureau has announced it is supporting National Vegetarian Week for the third consecutive year.
The week runs from May 24-30 and the Mushroom Bureau website www.mushroom-uk.com will be advertised on 500,000 flyers and 7,000 posters that will be distributed by the Vegetarian Society to cafes, restaurants, health food shops and libraries in 20 cities across the UK in the week prior to Vegetarian Week.
More than 2,000 schools participated in Vegetarian Week last year and they will be targeted again this year with a poster campaign and literature.
It is expected that Vegetarian Week will reach an audience of 26 million people and the society will sign up 20,000 new vegetarians. May is a key month for promotion for the mushroom industry. The bureau will be promoting mushrooms in salads, or barbecues and for light meals that can be prepared quickly.
