The Processed Vegetable Growers Association (PVGA) is making its debut at this year's Royal Show with its Yes Peas! Stand.

The UK's most popular vegetable will be represented for the first time at the event, from July 4-7, with an area that features a fully planted-up pea growing area, complete with real vines and machinery, and giveaways for children.

Demonstrations of cooking with peas will be given throughout the day by Yorkshire TV celebrity chef Rachel Green, whose series The Flying Cook, goes out in late August. A farmer's daughter, Green is renowned for her commitment to home-grown ingredients. "My father grew peas and I spent a lot of time as a girl watching the peas being taken off the vine," she said. "They are a fantastic vegetable to cook with and very adaptable."

Mr Pea and his friend will also be there on their first outing, out and about around the show to direct visitors to the Yes Peas! Stand on 6th Street.
