Bombay potato is one of the best sellers at the innovative Brecon-based company, which supplies the country's leading food manufacturers and food service companies. The company supplies potatoes with a full range of coatings to suit a customer's requirements, be it tandoori, sag, cajun or southern style.
Potatoes are supplied in wedges, diced, julienne, sliced and even mashed with butter for those British traditionalists. Cooking styles include roasted, sauteed, char-grilled and boiled and the potato products are used in a multitude of food items, from potato salads, bagged salads and root vegetable mixes to ready meal dishes, pizza toppings, soups and pie fillings.
"We can make our potato products a lot more exciting with different coatings, but we also have customers who want traditional boiled and roasted potatoes," said Edward Gough, Beacon Foods' managing director. Beacon Foods also reports a growing demand for roasted, char-grilled and boiled sweet potato, which is popular for sandwiches, quiches, pizza toppings, to accompany meat products, pie fillings and soups.
