Freshfel's general delegate recently took part in a CELCAA meeting with DG Agriculture on the promotion of agricultural products in the EU and on third markets.

Other than Freshfel, the CELCAA delegation included representatives of various agro-sectors, including meat, dairy products, flowers, potatoes and wine. The delegation advocated an increase in the financial resources dedicated to the promotion of agricultural products, as well as a simplification of the EU's overall policy on promotion. In addition, the agro-trade is very much in favour of extending the list of products that are eligible for EU promotion funds, to include for example eggs and potatoes.

Freshfel Europe supports this position, on the condition that the inclusion of additional products does not affect the budget designated to the promotion fruit and vegetables. Freshfel delegates had an opportunity to discuss these issues in depth, with the European Commission, at a meeting of the Freshfel Working Group on Promotion, on July 8, in Brussels.
