Almeria-based Spanish salad grower Vasilenco is opening a UK sales office within the offices of Davis (Louth) Ltd. The two businesses will trade separately and independently but the aim is to bring growers and final customers closer together.

"For several years Vasilenco has served UK customers from its packing base in La Jerón and following three very successful years in the UK, we have decided to pull the marketing arm of Davis and the growing expertise in Spain together," said Peter Davis md of the Lincolnshire firm. "We have extended the offices to include a new facility with permanent links to Vasilenco’s packhouse and offices in Spain."

The new company begins trading officially in January, but the change-over will start gradually from mid-November. Vasilenco’s UK operation will be staffed by Paco Garcia and Ana Salmeron and Enrique Cordel will oversee quality control and seed developments.

Vasilenco supplies herbs, baby-leaf salads and sweetcorn.
