Measham-based AB Produce PLC has gained Higher Level Certification to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food.

The company’s operations were checked against a set of criteria that monitored its food safety management system, and quality management system, as well as its control of environment, product, processes and personnel.

The standard is recognised world-wide as a way to ensure safe and legal food production.

AB Produce recently moved to its brand new purpose-built production site in Measham, where a staff of more than 120, packs a wide range of pre-packed potatoes for retail sale. They also prepare and pack ready to use potatoes, carrots and other vegetables, along with mixes and exotics for the catering and food manufacturing industries.

AB's own fleet of refrigerated delivery vehicles carry the products to customers on overnight deliveries.

Managing Director, Andrew Bridgen said; "Gaining Higher Level Certification at our first attempt is a major achievement for the Company. We have developed rapidly and are now in a position to serve multi-national customers who demand the highest quality fresh produce. This prestigious Certification will enable the Company to achieve its very ambitious growth plans over the next few years.

“This is excellent news for our employees, shareholders, suppliers and the local community.”
