A German company is hoping for success with the transportation of a UK concept to its home market.

Entrepreneur Rolf Schmidt told visitors to Fruit Logistica last week he is hoping to fill supermarket shelves with carrots stick, celery pieces, corn on the cob, sugarsnap peas and washed beans.

“People today have less time to work in kitchen, and this is a quick way of having table-ready vegetables without compromising quality,” he said.

He said the idea originated in England but saw no reason for it not to work over in the UK.

His company, R. Schmidt GmbH was established in 1979, and obtains most of its products from Kenya.
